Copperwheat Media was originally born out of working for a mental health and bereavement service for almost 10 years. In that time, Jamie ran therapeutic workshops and one-to-one sessions for those who had experienced bereavement or were experiencing mental health difficulties.
He realised that capturing some of the stories of those he worked with could be really powerful, both to create general awareness of the issues young people were experiencing, and also as an incredibly powerful tool to show potential funders the real world impact of their donations. Alongside this he also discovered that the very act of telling their personal stories acted as a therapeutic tool for those young people.
The training and experience of working within mental health, bereavement and counselling has left a lasting impact on the type of stories we want to tell, as well as how we go about working with people who are sharing their story.
Phil, our Operations Lead at Copperwheat Media, also comes with a wealth of knowledge of healthcare having worked for a number of years as a children’s cancer nurse in the NHS, and then taught children’s nursing for a number of years.
These experiences give us a unique perspective as a company that fully drives our approach with those we work with and the stories we are privileged to help tell.
“Jamie not only offers creative film making skills but a caring, empathic attitude towards people.
He is very personable and knows how to help both adults and children relax to enable them to tell their story.
Because he has experience of working with adults and children with compromised wellbeing he has become a popular choice with agencies supporting service users with additional needs.”
