CAMHS

About This Project

THE CHALLENGE

CAMHS approached us to help find a way to explain their referral process to the general public and to mental health workers across the relevant counties. They were also keen to address misconceptions about the process as well as to include service users and staff from within the mental health team.

THE SOLUTION

We initially met with the CAMHS team, service users, as well as other mental health professionals who represented various mental health services across the relevant counties. Our job initially was to understand the referral process itself and the key messages that needed to be addressed. We also heard from service users themselves about what they had previously misunderstood about the referral process. Once we had a clear picture of the process, we took all this information away and came up with a concept that we felt would involve service users and key members of the mental health teams, explain a complicated process quite simply and to clear up any misconceptions or misunderstandings that we new were common.

Creatively, we also wanted to keep this simple but knew that people sat down talking from within a clinical setting would not engage the audience enough for the information to be taken in. We therefore decided to have people ‘walk and talk’ around different locations across the relevant counties. We felt that this would give the project some energy.
